McAfee has announced that as of December 31st 2011 they will no longer be supporting version 8.5 of their VirusScan antivirus product.

If your School is using version 8.5 of the VirusScan software Scomis strongly recommend it is upgraded to the current installable release. For more information please see http://faq.scomis.org/kb4836/ .

 

Anti-virus licences for Devon, Plymouth and Torbay schools expire on March 31st 2011. ScoMIS have been able to successfully negotiate with our supplier which means that there will be no increase in price for the third year running. McAfee School Client Licences will remain at £2.64 per licence.

Please complete the online form indicating if your school would like to buy into the anti-virus service, and also how many licences will be required. Details of the anti-virus software are available on the ScoMIS website at http://www.scomis.org/go/antivirus. If you are making your own arrangements to purchase antivirus software elsewhere, please indicate this on the on-line form. This will prevent licence update reminders being sent to you.

ScoMIS highly recommend schools carry out a full inventory in both the curriculum and administration areas to enable the correct number of licences are purchased to cover each PC and laptop within the school (including any home use PC).

Schools who choose not to purchase anti-virus licences from ScoMIS will need to source their own anti-virus licences and remove the anti-virus software supplied by ScoMIS from all their PCs by the 31st March 2011.

ScoMIS are still offering antivirus software for schools but only for schools who wish to buy into the service. Please complete the form by the 31st March 2010.
