We are currently undertaking work to upgrade our Windows KMS Licence Server to allow ScoMIS to release Office 2010 to schools.  During this process schools may receive messages that their Windows product is no longer registered.

If schools do receive a "not registered" message, don't worry, Windows will automatically try to update its licence every few hours.  Until a new licence is obtained Windows may run in Reduced Functionality Mode with certain Windows features being unavailable.

Further information to follow.

The ScoMIS Service Desk will be closed between 12.30 and 2.00pm on Friday 8th October to enable the whole team to bid a fond farewell to Steve Salway.

Steve will be retiring as Head of Service from ScoMIS after 39 years service with Devon County Council. Steve has been closely involved with education and ICT for the majority of his career.

In 1989 he was instrumental in the setting up of ScoMIS to provide ICT support to schools when they were provided with a Vanilla 286 computer and some software called 'SIMS' as a Management Information System. Initially a very small support team was based at County Hall who then moved to temporary buildings at St James School.

Since then Steve has been pivotal in the continued growth of the ScoMIS Team to a large local authority support unit providing a wide range of services with a focus on ensuring that ICT is used as a tool within schools to enhance the teaching and learning outcomes for the young people of Devon - both whilst heading up the technical arm of ScoMIS and as the Head of Service for ScoMIS since 2008. Steve is also a member of the Senior Management Team for Devon ICT Services.

The ScoMIS Team are sure that Schools as well as other colleagues within Devon County Council and beyond will all share with us in sending their very best wishes to Steve for a long, happy, healthy and well deserved retirement which will give him a lot more time to pursue his many interests.

All other ScoMIS Managed Services will continue to be available throughout. Should you need to contact us then please either leave a message on our voicemail or email us at ScoMIS@devon.gov.uk.

In the event of an Emergency then a call can be logged using the following number 07896516169.

We would ask that this number is only used in the event of a High Impact incident or Major Outage.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause
