UPDATE : Terminal Server Connectivity

A majority of Schools using the SIMS Terminal Server will have been unable to access the service this morning. Whilst we have been unable to trace the source of the problem, we believe the problem occurred within the SWGfL. ScoMIS logged a call with SWGfL, who have been investigating the issue.

ScoMIS has not currently had any information to suggest that access has been restored, but we have been monitoring servers and can now see active connections from affected schools. At this stage we can’t guarantee the stability of the connection and would suggest that users save work regularly whilst using Terminal Server.

——————————————————————————————————-

There are connectivity issues this morning which ScoMIS are investigating and in colloboration with the SWGfL. Initial investigations confirm that this is a SWGfL issue affecting most schools. We apologise for any inconvenience this issue may cause.

Schools that purchase the ScoMIS VPN solution can log into the Terminal Server via this route.

An estimated time of resolution is currently not known. Both ScoMIS and the SWGfL are treating this outage with our utmost priority. We will update this website as soon as any information is known.

We would ask schools to please refrain from phoning the ScoMIS Service Desk regarding this issue, in order to keep the lines avaliable for all customers and their other enquiries.

The RM EasyMail Plus (SWGfL Mail) service will be unavailable between 10am and 4pm Saturday 7th August. This date was chosen because we are now a few weeks into the English and Welsh holidays, and is before the Scottish schools return. We [RM] have also considered the importance of email access in exam result periods and this made Saturday the preferred option.

The maintenance is adding more storage, which will deliver more capacity, as well as making it quicker to access emails and folders. These are routine tasks for us and we do not foresee any risk, certainly all data is safe.
