Special schools should use the Primary Notes unless they use Nova Timetabling software in which case they will need to look at the notes for Secondary schools.

ScoMIS have been accredited by Capita Children’s Services for the SIMS support we provide to schools since 2002. ScoMIS are now seeking re-accreditation for a further two years.

An important part of the process is the independent feedback that Capita obtain from schools on our performance in support of their SIMS products. This information is collected using an on-line survey and gives schools an opportunity to assess the support they are receiving.

You will receive an email from Capita Children’s Services in the next few days. The on-line survey will be available to schools from 14th June to 25th June.

Some users have experienced an issue with SIMS .net closing when creating and validating their Summer 2010 School Census. If you experience this please import manifest file 0040. To find out how to do this please see KB966 on our FAQ site faq.scomis.org/kb966

Thursday 6th May is of course Election Day and some schools may be closed for use as polling stations. This will obviously have an impact upon the attendance codes recorded for their students.

ScoMIS have been advised that schools should be using the ‘#’ code, as it is a planned closure. Whilst there may be an argument for some schools to record the event as closure due to exceptional circumstances (‘Y’ code), it is vitally important that you confirm the correct code with your Education Welfare Officer (EWO) before making any changes.

For information on how to enter these attendance codes into SIMS .net please see the ScoMIS FAQ

The ScoMIS Service Desk will open from 8am to 5pm on Wednesday 19th August and Wednesday 26th August to be able to assist schools with examination queries that may arise. For the remainder of the summer holiday the opening times are 9am -5pm and we will return to our term time opening hours of 8am – 6pm Monday to Thursday, 8am -5pm Friday in September.

Would you be interested in attending a presentation on the use of SIMS Attendance 7? This could be at one of our training venues or at a school for your Local Learning Community. (Attendance 6 will no longer be available after the August upgrade).
