This has now been resolved

SWGfL are planning to undertake two separate maintenance activities on the 15th February in relation to EasyMail.

  • A firmware update to ensure we get meaningful support from our suppliers
  • Platform re-indexing and configuration changes in line with supplier recommendations

The maintenance will start at 9pm and will affect all EasyMail customers as the system will be unavailable for four hours.

These maintenance tasks are essential but are unrelated to the current issues with EasyMail. The latest information on that can be found here: System Status Information.

If you have any more questions or concerns, please contact the SWGfL Service Desk.

Important notice for Schools using the Scomis SIMS hosted application service (otherwise known as Terminal Server)

communication has recently gone out to all Scomis Hosted Application (Terminal Server) schools regarding changes to software support.

Please note that the ceasing of Capita's support for Server 2003 and Windows Xp and the introduction of Solus 3 do not affect Scomis Hosted Application Schools as Scomis have taken care of the infrastructure that SIMS .net and FMS use for you.

The ceasing of Capita's support for Microsoft Office 2003 means that the Scomis Hosted Application Service will be upgraded to Microsoft Office 2010 during the Easter 2012 break.

The responsibility to make sure that any workstation using Office 2010 through the TS environment is licensed is the responsibility of the School. You may therefore need to purchase Office 2010 licences for use after Easter 2012.

FAO Non Scomis Hosted Application Schools Only (Locally hosted SIMS)

Scomis have recently sent a communication to all schools who host SIMS locally (non Terminal Server schools) to inform them of future changes to software support.

We have created a diagram to help you understand what changes you may need to make and what options you have. There are links to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) within the diagram.

It is important to note that schools purchasing the Scomis Hosted Application service are not impacted to the same extent. If you are a Scomis Hosted Application (Terminal Server) school please click here.
